How to Add a Watermark to a PDF

Upload your PDF
Click the upload area or drag your PDF onto the page. The tool will load a preview of your document so you can see exactly how the watermark will look before applying it.

Customise the watermark
Enter your watermark text — such as "CONFIDENTIAL", "DRAFT", your company name, or any custom message. Adjust the font size, opacity, rotation angle, and position to place the watermark exactly where you want it on each page.

Apply and download
Click "Apply Watermark". The watermark will be stamped on every page of the PDF in your browser. Once done, click "Download Watermarked PDF" to save the finished document.
🔒Watermarks are applied locally — your document never leaves your device. Cloud-based watermarking tools require you to upload your PDF to a remote server, which means a third party temporarily holds your document. PixelForge renders and watermarks each page entirely in your browser using the PDF.js rendering engine and pdf-lib. This is especially important for watermarking sensitive originals like contracts, certificates, or proprietary design documents.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the watermark be permanent?
Yes. The watermark is embedded directly into the PDF pages as part of the document structure. It cannot be easily removed without specialised PDF editing software. However, we recommend keeping the original unwatermarked file as a backup, since the process is not reversible within PixelForge.
Can I watermark a PDF with an image instead of text?
Currently, PixelForge supports text watermarks only. You can customise the font size, opacity, rotation, colour, and position of the text watermark to create a professional-looking result. Image watermark support is something we may add in the future.
Will the watermark appear on every page?
Yes. By default, the watermark is applied consistently to every page of the PDF document, ensuring all pages are marked uniformly. This is the standard requirement for most use cases like marking drafts or confidential documents.
Can I adjust the transparency of the watermark?
Yes. The opacity (transparency) of the watermark is fully adjustable. A lower opacity creates a lighter, more subtle watermark that doesn't obscure the underlying content. A higher opacity creates a more prominent mark, which is useful for clearly indicating draft or confidential status.
